Strengthening Rural Development through Organization and Technical Assistance

With more than 30 years of experience in coffee cultivation, the Tinecos Farmers Association (ADAT) has become a benchmark in agricultural production in western Guatemala. Composed of 460 active members, the association promotes the sustainable cultivation of vegetables, coffee, and avocados, fostering collective work and continuous improvement as key pillars of rural development.

In addition to its member base, ADAT provides technical assistance to more than 500 producers through a farmer-to-farmer model that emphasizes proximity and practical learning among growers. This approach has been essential in strengthening economic inclusion, particularly for returnees from the United States who find in agriculture an opportunity for reintegration and income generation.

Technical assistance provided through ProCompite has been one of the main drivers of the association’s growth. Through this partnership, ADAT has strengthened its operational capacity, promoting agricultural mechanization, specialized technical support, and the development of rural enterprises.

As a result of this institutional strengthening process, ADAT recently inaugurated its second collection center, with the capacity to store more than 3,000 quintals of coffee, along with well-equipped administrative facilities that facilitate product management and marketing.

Support from ProCompite has been instrumental in enabling ADAT to expand its services, improve the competitiveness of its producers, and continue generating sustainable opportunities for farming communities across the Guatemalan highlands.
